Project Report: A New Gege River: Our Shared Responsibilities

Project Overview
The “A New Gege River: Our Shared Responsibilities” initiative was designed to tackle water pollution and promote sustainable freshwater conservation in the Gege community. Through community outreach, school engagement, and volunteer training, the project empowered residents with knowledge and practical solutions to protect their local water resources.

Project Execution

  1. Community Awareness & Sensitization Walk:

A large-scale sensitization walk was carried out in the Gege community to educate over 105 residents about the importance of freshwater conservation and proper waste management. Volunteers engaged with locals, distributing educational materials and demonstrating simple waste disposal techniques to prevent pollution of the Gege River.

  1. School Outreach Program:

To instill pro-environmental behaviors in young minds, an outreach session was conducted in a local school within the community. A total of 40 students and 10 teachers participated in interactive lessons and hands-on activities focused on freshwater conservation, fostering environmental responsibility among the next generation.

  1. Volunteer Training & Knowledge Transfer

A group of 15 volunteers were trained in freshwater conservation techniques and effective community engagement. These volunteers, in turn, became peer educators, sharing their knowledge with others to ensure long-term impact.

Project Impact
✔ 115+ community members sensitized on sustainable waste management.
✔ 35+ students equipped with knowledge on protecting freshwater resources.
✔ 10 teachers empowered to integrate conservation practices into their teachings.
✔ 15 volunteers trained and mobilized for community-wide knowledge transfer.
✔ Successfully executed in 2 days, setting a foundation for continued advocacy and action.

The project reinforced the shared responsibility of community members in safeguarding their environment, laying the groundwork for sustained environmental consciousness and behavioral change.
